Drawing attention to Insanitek

Should we add pictures to the borders of the home page to attract attention from passerbys?

Should we try to find more themes to download and use with this if possible?

Should we save up money and hold a scholarship contest?

Should each member put up flyers around their school or work place to get attention?

All of the above?

Other? (PM Rhea the details of your idea.)

Welcome to the Insanitek Research and Development firm forum site! This is an "online community" section of Insanitek where people of all varieties get together to share their ideas and dreams with each other in order to start making their dreams real.In this section of Insanitek you'll find discussions that range from enlightening and educational to silly, nonsensical debates between comrades. You'll also be able to ask for and find help with homework or projects since many of the members here at Insanitek are quite diverse in their interests.

From the business point of view, you'll be able to find information about what projects and products are in development. These products are thought up by and and developed with the help of the other community members then sold in the Insanitek store (coming soon.)

There is a section labeled "weblinks" which will lead you to the members favourite links. These include webcomics, art sites, charity organisations, political organisations, science and social networking sites. There is also a section labelled "downloads" which is dedicated to programmers that wish to have their products and ideas available for downloading and feedback.

Insanitek is a place for dreamers, inventors, scientists of every field, and people that want to make a difference. You don't have to be a member to browse, but if you want the chance to voice your opinion, test your ideas, get feedback, or offer a suggestion, you'll have to sign up.

One of the main missions of Insanitek is to defeat ignorance through teaching, sharing and helping others learn. Whether this is by tutoring online, answering questions, or inventing a toy to help educate more, Insanitek is taking up arms in the war against ignorance.

The girl in the window.
World news and progressPart One: The Feral Child

PLANT CITY — The family had lived in the rundown rental house for almost three years when someone first saw a child's face in the window.

A little girl, pale, with dark eyes, lifted a dirty blanket above the broken glass and peered out, one neighbor remembered.

Montauk-Monster photo a fake?
NewsIs Seeing Believing?
In the age of Photoshop, the 'Montauk Monster' picture raises questions about the veracity of photography.

When a mysterious creature washed up on the shores of Montauk, N.Y., in late July, it became an instant media sensation. After the photograph of the Montauk Monster ran on Manhattan media blog Gawker, local Long Island newspapers were on the story. CNN and Fox News quickly followed, hosting experts to hash out what exactly this unrecognizeable being was. Perhaps a bloated raccoon, as Discover Magazine claimed and Jeff Corwin told Fox? A dead dog that had decayed for weeks? Or, the latest spin: The creature was simply fake, a prop in a movie’s viral marketing campaign, and the media had been duped.

The Winding Milky Way

The winding Milky Way
A new map reveals a complicated outer halo in our galaxy.
Provided by Sloan Digital Sky Survey

The halo of stars that envelops the Milky Way is like a river delta
crisscrossed by stellar streams large and small, according to new data
from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-II). While the largest rivers
of this delta have been mapped out over the last decade, analysis of
the new SDSS-II map shows that smaller streams can be found throughout
the stellar halo, says Kevin Schlaufman, a graduate student at the
University of California at Santa Cruz.

No More School Buses in Space?

By Phil Berardelli
ScienceNOW Daily News
19 August 2008

The spacecraft of tomorrow may look as svelte as their brethren of the past, thanks to a new type of thermal coating. At the American Chemical Society's annual meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, today, researchers presented evidence that the new material--called a thin-film variable emittance electrochromic device--can protect sensitive electronics from the harsh environment of space, including impacts from micrometeorites. The material could usher in a new generation of tiny, long-lasting spacecraft, experts say.

Digitizing Old Text and Fighting Spam, Too

By Phil Berardelli
ScienceNOW Daily News
12 August 2008

The next time a Web site asks you to read a string of crooked letters as a security precaution, don't grimace. You could be helping to digitize a deteriorating historical document. A team of computer scientists has taken a common Internet tool for screening out spam and adapted it to help convert text from old books and manuscripts into electronic files. The effort might not put professional transcribers out of business, but it could cut the cost of creating digital libraries.

Ancient Beavers Take Silver in Log-Chomping Olympics

By David Malakoff
ScienceNOW Daily News
12 August 2008

Call it The Great Gnaw-Off. By studying logs chomped nearly 5 million years ago, researchers have discovered that ancient beavers weren't nearly as expert lumberjacks as their modern cousins. Indeed, the evidence suggests that they would have been trounced by today's beavers in a tree-cutting Olympics. Researchers say the finding provides rare insight into how one of the animal kingdom's busiest critters may have shaped ancient landscapes.
