Life, as it currently is.

As we’re getting acquainted here, I figured I’d write a post about what I’m currently doing. I have several things going on at the moment, some of which are well under way, others which are just a note on The Listâ„¢. I am currently…

Teaching

  • Volunteering at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum
  • Helping low income kids find tolerance (if not a love) of the sciences at the Indianapolis schools
  • Setting up a virtual tutor programme to be available on Insanitek (a mere note and outline, currently)

Writing

  • For AAAS I’m working on various “5 things about me” posts which involve reaching out to interview AAAS members.
  • A series of articles on how researchers can find funding for their projects. This is inclusive of “traditional” grant writing and non-traditional methods.
  • Once a month writing up lessons that I’m learning by teaching at the inner city schools here.
  • For Insanitek, I’m putting together an inventors guide to describe the processes on turning your ideas into a tangible product ready for market.

Insanitek

  • The publications website is down to the final touches — getting the website laid out, etc. I’m just down to filling the content of the side bars.
  • A series of “urban naturalist” experiments and explorations that can be used to teach people about the outdoors in the city.
  • I’m putting together a price sheet and brochure of how much Insanitek’s writing and editing services cost for clients.
  • Speaking of, Insanitek is hiring freelance science and technical writers that are capable of writing on their own, writing for clients, or both.
  • We’re looking at options to set up the educational section of Insanitek where you’ll be able to find virtual lessons, tutors, and other things. This is also where the community forums will move to once it’s up.

Book reviews

As you can see, I’ve got my plate full of projects that I’ll soon be sharing with you guys as I finish them up. Then again, some of them are so long lasting, such as the teaching, that I might just share with you as time passes.
