Today I cried. Today I was given a real chance.

For many years my life has been an ongoing struggle to make something of myself and make my dreams come true. I’m stubborn, determined, often penniless, and resilient.  I often thought this is the way it was going to be due to the fact that the world runs on money, which just happened to be the one thing I didn’t have. This was a minor fact that didn’t stop me from seeking out free resources and help everywhere to warp reality to my own machinations. I wasn’t going to give up in a world where everyone is giving away a bit of the puzzle for free. It’s exhausting to do things this way, but it’s possible.

Today I was given a chance.

Oddly, I was settling back into the familiar routine of working two jobs to pay for the basics in life — rent and utilities while spending every spare moment thinking about the next turn for Insanitek when it happened. Jason Spencer of Tribe.ly reached out to me inviting me to pay what I wanted for the first run of the Flight Formula entrepreneurship incubator online edition. The sheer magnitude of this made me cry with joy because for the first time in my life, I was given a genuine chance that relied on nothing other than generosity and hard work.

Pay What You Want is a novel way of paying for things as it shows generosity of spirit on both the part of the creator and the buyer. I volunteered to pay what I could with money, but I also volunteered something more precious to me: my time and resources. It’s really the only thing I actually have. And, they accepted it and me.

I think this could be the catalyst I’ve been waiting for.

I’m looking forward to chronicling my journey through The Flight Formula for all to follow. This could be what helps me narrow my focus and drive to really drive Insanitek forward while we’re all watching. This could be what sets me free. And that thought alone is worth getting emotionally naked for and letting those tears of joy flow.
