Become an Educator

So, you want to teach.

teaching_quotes_benjamin_franklinBeing an educator through Knowledge Conduit means more than “just teaching”. It means you are committing to each child, their family, and their future. You’re committing to your own future, and that of our society. You’re sharing your life experiences and knowledge along with the lesson plan. Knowledge Conduit, like the rest of Insanitek, believes in the power of independence, self-empowerment, and community. To that end, we’ve designed the this division of Insanitek to be a service to both the students and the educators.

We sweeten the deal by taking care of all those annoying administrative tasks, like invoicing, collecting money, reminding students of their appointment, and even putting together lesson plans and teaching aids so you can focus on the fun part: teaching.

And, we even provide training for you to increase your skills, tools you can use, lists of technology and how to use them, and a lot more — including accreditation.

Sounds like something you can get behind!

The way it works is this:

You can choose what you want to teach and how you want to teach it.

  • Online class? No problem, we use Sensei Software, which allows for a FULL classroom experience online.
  • Q&A in the forums? Easily done with the BuddyPress plugin right here on the website.
  • In person one-one-one? Students and parents search for someone in their area that has the skills they need at the price they can afford. The rest teaching.
  • Small groups? We’ll even help you find the local facilities.

The students and their parents browse our database of instructors to find a match, buy a teaching package, set up the time and date with your online calendar through us, and meet you at the meeting place. All you have to do is be prepared to shine.

The cost to you? Absolutely nothing.

Why? We believe in the power of knowledge, and we believe that every person should have access to affordable education that is amazing. They have a better chance of that without adding administrative fees that would require you raise your prices to make a decent living wage.

Before you sign up for becoming part of our army of knowledge givers, there’s a few things you should know.

  1. Knowledge Conduit acts as a match maker between students and educators for one-on-one and small group sessions both online and in-person.
  2. We sell tools for you to be able to facilitate your teaching so you can focus on the students, not the preparation. This makes it easy for beginners and vets alike to begin their educator journey. If you have tools that you want to sell, you can add them to the store and make a little more passive income that way.
  3. You can make online courses and sell them via Knowledge Conduit and bring yet more passive income that way.
  4. For online sessions we take payment, help facilitate the class or webinar, and provide tech support and training.
  5. We take the payment up front for tutoring packages, with our software, then forward it onto you. Warning: This payment processing software skims off 3% off the top for processing fees, so adjust your fees accordingly.
  6. You’ll set your own price with us (and tell us when you’re raising your fees) so we can move you to different match making searches easily. This allows parents to a search for a tutor for their kids with the skills they need, but at a price they can afford without the conflict of negotiation.
  7. You set your own schedule. We use an online scheduler to coordinate things, so you’ll be able to control it completely. That means blocking out weeks for vacation, setting hours of availability, and making sure your life stays in your hands.
  8. You can teach both in-person and online if you so wish. Mix and match your skills and audience for fun, for a challenge, or to broaden your skills. That’s the beauty of being an independent contractor.
  9. There is a forum where you can lean on each other for support, make friends and allies, get insight, and some insider tips of the trade.
  10. We do a background check on ALL of the tutors for safety’s sake. Man, woman, alien, mysterious plant-object, it doesn’t matter. Our top priority is educating, but safety is a tie for it. (Worried? You may be able to join the revolution by doing online sessions and answering questions in the forums.)
  11. We constantly do performance reviews with parents and students to get feedback and continually improve our service. We will share all the information with you — good and bad — so you can continue to refine your skills and your target audience.
  12. You will have control of your profile, which means you can change the prices, testimonials, your description, and offerings any time you want. However, you’ll still have to tell us so we can change the database to reflect any major changes that impact the student’s ability to find the right match.
  13. We reserve the right to sever relationships that continue to tarnish the mission and purpose of Knowledge Conduit so we all have the best experience possible — and one that makes you feel pride in being part of this educational adventure.
