Educator Profile: Travis Beiersdorfer
Travis Beiersdorfer is an engineer and military, science, and technology historian with a passion for storytelling. To him, history isn’t just numbers and names; it’s the story and reality behind those statistics. He knows the story depends on your point of view and who you ask. Travis, when not working on machines, can often be found scouring the news for the history that is happening today, as well as absorbing texts from the past to understand humanity as a whole — past and present.
He teaches kids to look at history like a detective to figure out what lies behind the words on the page. He makes sure that they can look at the big clues as well as the small clues in kind to put a story together that reflects as close to reality as it could be.
When teaching engineering, math, and physics, Travis breaks down the steps into understandable parts, then puts it back together as a whole to show the student the big picture and applicability in the real world.
You can work with Travis in person for one-on-one sessions in the evenings and small groups on the weekend.
