Unit Seven: Food & Water (Preview)

OrangesEverybody’s gotta eat. And drink. But do you know where your food really comes from and how it gets to your plate?

Hint: There is more to it than the grocery store and a waiter.

Give up yet?

It comes from the environment. This lesson is going to harken all the way back to chapter one when we talked about the value of the environment and what we can get from it. We are going to rehash economics and market and tie it in with our own personal choices with food. This will segue into the next chapter, which talks more about energy.

This lesson is also going to go into a part of our lives we don’t think much about. Every time you flush a toilet, rinse something down the drain, or anything that uses water, that water goes somewhere. Just because it’s out of sight and out of mind does not mean that things don’t happen.

And happen they do. Part of this chapter opens up your mind to the wonders of sewage treatment and shows you what happens after the flush.
