What’s being tested?
During the lockdowns Indiana’s economy was devastated. People were laid off in droves, and yet technical skills were still needed for a variety of industries.
Indiana’s officials took note of this, and they gifted many businesses with a trial partnership with 180Skills to help train people in much needed skills. This program is used by employers such as Oberg Industries and GKN Aerospace and technical institutes like ITT Tech and Ivy Tech for job training.
The classes themselves are made by a company called 180Skills in collaboration with industry leaders such as Harley Davidson and Boeing and universities such as Purdue University and Indiana University.
There are over 700 classes, which teach individual skills. These skills range from
- Soft skills such as working in a team and leadership
- Technical skills such as understanding flight control and using CNC controllers
- Office skills like Excel training and communication
These skills are built up into courses, 12 of which are avenues to opportunities to certification through an independent third party.
I have used several of the classes and just one course here at Insanitek to help train my employees. But, I want to make these classes and courses available to homeschoolers as well.
Get Started
Classes are built for a range of different learning types. Each slide has text and an image gennemse. While the text is read out loud, the image is interactive. Buttons can be pressed and things happen to explain to the learner what happens with those buttons.
Below are static images of some of the things that you can see in the content.
