Accidental Inventions: The Chance Discoveries That Changed Our Lives by Birgit Krols
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I thought this book was pretty… and pretty useless. It takes several (maybe 50?) inventions that we use every day, gives you a vintage looking picture, sometimes a modern one worthy of Etsy, and a short paragraph describing the invention. If you like pictures books with a short, interesting blurb, this book is for you. The sad thing is, you can probably get more information from the ubiquitous Wiki than you would this book.
However, there is one place that this book could come in handy: school projects. Let’s say you have a bunch of kids, and you want them to do a research project on inventions. This book could be a short intro to them so the kids could get a very quick idea of what it is and choose what they want to do. Granted, this could backfire if you don’t want the kids to learn about Viagra or brandy for those are in the book, and we all know how kids like to choose the things that cause the most attention.
Oh, and it could make for a unique coffee table book, if that’s your thing.
Hey there I am so excited I found your site, I really found you by accident, while I was researching on Bing for something else,
Anyways I am here now and would just like to say
kudos for a marvelous post and a all round exciting blog (I also love the
theme/design), I don’t have time to read through
it all at the moment but I have bookmarked it and also added in
your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a great deal more,
Please do keep up the superb job.
